INDIANAPOLIS — It was a show of economic power and independence.

Dozens of up-and-coming businesswomen turned out Saturday with their products and booths at Lafayette Square Mall for the S.H.E. Event. S.H.E. stands for She Has Everything.

The event encourages women in the African-American community to start businesses and create jobs.

S.H.E. Event founder Katina Washington said she was born to help others create their own business by sharing her knowledge and strategies.

"I want to be an incubator for businesses that want to get started that have a struggle, to create that platform," Washington said. "Those businesses that wanted to be part of another vending event and couldn't afford vendor space. We wanted to make it affordable and make dreams come true. With the unemployment rate the way it is, hey, create your own job."

RTV6 was a proud media sponsor of the event.

We also set up a booth at the event sharing our Hiring Hoosiers campaign and how they could get connected to those seeking the next generation of job creators.
