INDIANAPOLIS — Many Hoosier workers are finding themselves on the unemployment line during the COVID19 crisis, and one local company is looking to hire some laid-off service industry employees.
"A lot of the folks we are talking to, and we want to talk to, are those that are maybe in the restaurant business that have been outplaced," Ami Hall, the vice president of human resources for Bell Techlogix.
Bell Techlogix is a leading information technology managed services and solutions company, providing Digital Workplace and Infrastructure Management Solutions to large and mid-market enterprises, as well as the public sector.
In this time of social distancing and stay-at-home orders, more and more Hoosiers are finding themselves without work and a paycheck.
As days pass — bills become due. Families need support.
And, for many, just waiting until this is all over is not an option.
Bell Techlogix is an option to hold the unemployed over until jobs become available again.
"Where we come in to support that is, as you can imagine, all of those folks are going home, and they are having to take equipment home — we are having to work with our clients to image new laptops," Hall said of what her company does.
"Of course, as folks go home, lots of people have questions," Hall continued. "They haven't worked home base before, so they might (have) connectivity issues or what have you, so we are seeing our volumes on our service desk increase five to ten times our regular volume."
Bell Techlogix wants to hire service industry workers, to put their excellent people skills to use, and customer support.
"Not technical, they just really have to be able to provide some great customer service to the end-user who is calling in," Hall said.
The Indianapolis company is hiring over 50 customer service representatives — and that number could grow.
These are temporary positions they hope will help not only the clients they serve but also the Indy area as a whole as they can put Hoosiers back to work.
As a customer service representative, you would work from home; typical hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bell Tochlogix can help you get the equipment and skills necessary to do the job.
