Police said the two victims were running from somebody. At the time of the shooting, the nearby Casba nightclub was beginning to close down, so there was a crowd of people outside.
Nobody has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
Police say there's no known threat to anybody's safety, despite the shooting happening in such a popular part of the city.
Monday's shooting happened about a block away from where seven people were shot in 2014.
