PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. – A 2-year-old boy drowned in a lake Monday evening in Putnam County.
Indiana DNR officers said the child was found face down in Van Bibber Lake, north of Greencastle, around 6 p.m.
Officers said the boy's mother reported him missing around 6 p.m. and he was found a few minutes later unresponsive in the water. Family members gave the child CPR until medics arrived.
The child was taken to Putnam County Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before 7 p.m.
The Putnam County coroner said an autopsy is scheduled for 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
