26-year-old Columbus man dies in truck vs. train crash

COLUMBUS — A Columbus man died after a collision with a train on Wednesday afternoon, according to Bartholomew County Coroner, Clayton Nolting.

Brandon S. Hendershot, 26, was driving a dump truck when he collided with a train on Indianapolis Road near U.S. 31 around 12:40 p.m. He was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was then pronounced dead.

Hendershot died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, according to Nolting.

Both the Columbus Police Department and Indiana State Police are investigating the crash.
