5-year-old boy airlifted to Riley after being struck by vehicle driven by teen

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY — A 5-year-old boy was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis after he was struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening.

Bartholomew County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 6000 block of Continental Drive in the Heritage Heights mobile home park around 6:45 p.m for a report of a pedestrian hit by vehicle.

Responding deputies found a young boy suffering from serious injuries. The child was transported by medical helicopter to the children's hospital in Indianapolis to be treated. His condition is not known at this time.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as a teen girl, approximately 16-years-old.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
