INDIANAPOLIS — More than a dozen people had to evacuate their homes after an apartment building on Indy's east side caught fire.
The fire happened around 12:30 a.m. on Yorkshire Court, near East 21st Street and Post Road. Firefighters on the scene say the fire began in someone's kitchen, with smoke filling the apartment building's entryway.
Some people had to jump off a balcony to get out of the building, according to firefighters.
One person was taken to the hospital with mild smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
