INDIANAPOLIS—Yes, that really was Jane Pauley standing in front of a former Marsh store on the Indianapolis northeast side, Tuesday.

The broadcast journalist and network television program host was in town for the grand opening of the latest Jane Pauley Community Health Center.

Patients are already being seen in what used to be a supermarket at East 75th Street and North Shadeland Avenue.

Pauley grew up close to there, graduated from Warren Central High School and Indiana University, then got her start in television in Indianapolis.

The facility that opened Tuesday is the 15th stand-alone Pauley Health Center spread across five Indiana counties, each offering health care services to people regardless of insurance status. The first center opened in 2009.

At the opening ceremony, Pauley praised the people who are behind the effort. "In a city that has the ability to lead, a community healthcare center like this is pretty unique," she said.

Marc Hackett, the chief executive officer of the Jane Pauley Community Health Center said, "We are excited to open a new site in the Castleton area near Community Hospital North. We will provide the much needed primary and behavioral health care to the Castleton area, regardless of the patient's ability to pay."

The new facility provides family medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, behavioral health and dental services.
