RICHMOND — An adult has been arrested after a 4-year-old was shot following an incident in Richmond Thursday evening.
It happened just before 5 p.m. at a house in the 200 block of NW 13th Street.
According to Richmond Police Captain Curt Leverton, police found the child with a gunshot wound. The shooting appears to be accidental, although very few details have been released at this time.
The child was rushed to nearby Reid Health and then flow to a Dayton, Ohio hospital. Police described the child's condition as stable.
A 23-year-old man at the house was arrested on preliminary charges of neglect or a dependent, and possession of a handgun without a license.
Police have not said what relationship the man had to the child or who fired the shots.
The incident remains under investigation.
