INDIANAPOLIS — Repairs are underway on a downtown Indianapolis landmark.
It's the L.S. Ayres clock at the corner of Meridian and Washington. Scaffolding went up Friday so craftsmen can reach the eight-foot tall, 10,000 pound clock that has been there since 1936.
And while L.S. Ayres is long gone, the clock remains and always draws attention during the holidays when the iconic cherub sits on it to watch over the crowds below.
The clock went through a first round of repairs in 2016 and now more work is needed. There are leaks and issues related to the bronze case that need to be remedied.
All of this to be done by Thanksgiving.
