BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. -- A man was struck and killed by a vehicle after he struck a concrete barrier with his car and was standing in the road Friday in Bartholomew County.

Indiana State Police said Evan Stewart, 27, of Shelbyville, struck the barrier around 9:30 p.m. Friday near County Road 1000 North and Base Road. He later died at the scene.

State police said Andrew Adams, 25, of Columbus, Indiana, struck Stewart while he was standing in the roadway near his vehicle. Adams also struck Stewart's vehicle.

A third car was at the scene when the second collision occurred but left before the occupants could be identified, according to police.

State Police said they believe alcohol is a factor in both crashes.

Anyone with information on the third vehicle at the scene or information on the incident is asked to call police at 812-689-5000.
