COLUMBUS, Ind. — One man was arrested after he stole a truck with the owner's dog inside, police say.
Officers with the Columbus Police Department were called to the 300 block of Center Street Sunday morning on a report of a stolen truck.
The truck's owner told police he left it running in front of a friend's house while carrying groceries when somebody stole it. The owner's dog was also inside the truck when it was stolen.
Officers from the Columbus Police Department and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department spotted the stolen truck a short time later and attempted to stop it. The suspect drove the truck through two locked gates at a business, where the stolen vehicle came to a stop.
The suspect was taken into custody.
The vehicle and the dog were returned to the owner. The dog was unharmed.
