INDIANAPOLIS — The Big Ten Conference has canceled the remainder of its men’s basketball tournament, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The main priority of the Big Ten Conference continues to be the health, safety and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans and media as we continue to monitor all developing and relevant information on the COVID-19 virus,” a statement on the conference website states.
The conference first said the games would be played without fans beginning Thursday, before making the move to cancel the tournament altogether.
Thursday's first game was set to begin at noon. Two games were played Wednesday.
