BLOOMINGTON — People gathered in Bloomington Monday night to be a voice for those who have nowhere to live.

The rally in Seminary Park is in response to a new rule that prohibits peoplefrom sleeping in the park overnight.

Participants marched by the courthouse and the mayor's home then went to People's Park on Kirkwood for a sit-in.

The crackdown at Seminary Park started a week ago. The city posted signs saying tents and personal belongings would be removed and stored for 30 days.

Since early December, the city has been working on ways to help the homeless who have been using the park as a place to live. However, the homelessness issue came to a head on Christmas Eve when a person who had been staying in the park died of exposure.
