Body found in dumpster on Indy's northeast side identified

INDIANAPOLIS – A body found in a dumpster on Indianapolis' northeast side has been identified and the death ruled a homicide.

Indianapolis police said the body was found around 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Spanish Oaks Apartment complex near 38th Street. 

Officers were called to the apartments after there were reports of blood near the dumpster.

The victim has been identified as Jose Santos Garcia-Lopez, 35. The Marion County Coroner says he died from blunt force trauma to the head and multiple stab wounds to the neck and trunk of the body. It is unknown Garcia-Lopez was living at the apartment complex.
