BOONE CO. — On Tuesday several members of the Boone County Sheriff's Office started searching two ponds following a tip that a missing person, Matthew Venis, might be in the area.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department, Lebanon Fire Department, Force One with cadaver K-9's and the Department of Natural Resources all assisted in the search that spanned two days. According to Sheriff Michael Nielsen, Venis was not located.
A missing person's report regarding the Lebanon man was filed on November 8 of last year. The report stated that Venis, 33, had not been seen or heard from since November 4.
Since the report was filed, police have worked through many tips and leads in the investigation.
On Thursday several Boone County police officers also searched 25 acres of woods in southern Boone County.
