Lebanon schools to let out early for Deputy Pickett's funeral

All Boone County offices also closed Friday

LEBANON, Ind. -- Schools in Lebanon will be closing early on Friday because of Deputy Jacob Pickett's funeral. 

Lebanon Community School Corporation announced the scheduling changes Wednesday afternoon in anticipation of the heavily attended funeral of Deputy Pickett. 

"We anticipate the procession to be heavily attended and create significant traffic in Lebanon and surrounding areas," the school corporation posted on their Facebook page. "LCSC will close early on Friday to ensure that our students and staff can arrive home in a timely manner."

The school district is also encouraging students to wear blue on Friday in honor of Deputy Pickett.

The following is a list of release times for Friday:

  • Lebanon High School and Lebanon Middle School will both release at noon. 
  • All elementary school students will be released at 1 p.m.
  • Developmental preschool at Harney Elementary School will be dismissed at 11 a.m. 
  • There will be no afternoon preschool

All students involved in extracurricular activities or special events should contact their coach or advisor for specific changes to their Friday plans.

"We encourage everyone to be aware of how the procession may affect their own travel plans and routines."

The Boone County Commissioners also voted Monday to close all county offices on Friday in memory of Deputy Pickett.
