HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. -- The man accused of killing Boone County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob Pickett was involved in a fight in jail and moved to a different area.
Anthony Baumgardt is accused of fatally shooting Pickett on March 2 after fleeing from police.
He's being held in the Hamilton County Jail, where the fight took place on April 18.
After the incident, Baumgardt was moved to a different housing assignment for his safety and protection, Hamilton County Deputy Bryant Orem said. He was not moved for disciplinary reasons.
His current housing assignment is not considered permanent, Orem said.
Baumgardt was shot by another officer after he fired at Pickett, police say. He was treated at Methodist Hospital until he was released into police custody.
