WHITESTOWN — Whitestown officials announced a precautionary water boil order Thursday following a water main break.
All Whitestown Municipal Utility customers should boil their water for five minutes before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation, a news release said. Residents do not need to boil water used for showering, cleaning and flushing.
The precautionary measure is required by state law because water pressure dropped below 20 PSI following a break in one of the towns transmission water mains.
Town officials expect the boil advisory to be lifted Friday morning.
Residents can follow the Town of Whitestown on social media or visit the town's website for updates. Anyone with questions should contact the Public Works Department at 317-733-8584.
