Former Madison County auditor killed in crash

NASHVILLE, Ind. — Jane Lyons, a former Madison County Auditor, was killed in a car crash Friday afternoon.

Brown County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders were dispatched just before 4 p.m. to the area of State Road 46 East and Old Nashville Road on the report of a crash.

When they arrived, they found one person who was pronounced deceased at the scene and three people who were injured.

Investigators said they believe Sheila Hendricks, of Taylorsville, struck the rear of a vehicle then crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Joy Watson, of Anderson.

Lyons, of Anderson, a passenger in Watson’s vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three people were transported to hospitals for treatment following the accident.

The crash is still under investigation while a crash reconstructionist and toxicology results are completed.
