If someone asked you to name the wealthiest city in the the Midwest, what city would you guess?
It may, or may not, surprise you to know that the answer is Carmel, Ind.
That's according to a study by the personal finance site NerdWallet.
The study looked at nearly 500 cities and considered household income, home values, percent of homes without a mortgage and average credit limits.
- High incomes: The median household income in Carmel is $109,375
- Home values: The median home value in Carmel is $296,600. 22% of homes have no mortgage.
- Access to credit: The average credit limit for credit card holders in Carmel is $62,910
