INDIANAPOLIS—Drivers on busy West Washington Street on the Indianapolis west side will have one less traffic light to wait at, at least for awhile, starting November 4.
The signal at Washington and Victor Street will be turned off and taken down. It's a state project because Washington Street is also U.S. 40.
Located less than one mile outside I 465, Victor Street was an entrance to a Kmart. The store has closed so the light is no longer needed.
INDOT crews are expected to get the work done in one day.
Just up the road, at Sigsbee Street, a new traffic light will be installed. That won't happen until 2021, according to INDOT.
