LAFAYETTE — Police have released additional information about an incident that left two people dead Sunday at a convenience store-gas station on the outskirts of Lafayette.

When Tippecanoe County deputies arrived at the Family Express on Old State Road 25 near I-65, they found a man shot-to-death inside the business. He is now identified as 42-year-old Ryan Baughman of Delphi

According to Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Kim Riley, deputies then found one armed man outside by the gas pumps. "Deputies attempted to detain the subject and shots were fired and the suspect is now deceased," said Riley on Monday.

One day later, Riley says autopsy results show 22-year-old Kirklan Conley of Lafayette died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

As for Baughman, Riley says he was not an employee of the store and the shooting was not related to a robbery.

The investigation continues as detectives work to determine the motive behind the fatal shooting of Baughman inside the store.
