CARMEL, Ind. – An Indianapolis couple moved their wedding to the chapel of a hospital Saturday evening after the bride was told she had a blood clot in her brain.
After suffering from a headache for 10 days, Kayla Jacobs decided to visit an urgent care. That trip turned into a second visit, with finally more information revealed at the emergency room.
Jacobs was told she had a blood clot in her brain, and was admitted to IU Health North in Carmel.
Fortunately, the diagnosis didn’t stop the wedding.
Family, friends, and vendors quickly came up with a plan B and thought to move the wedding to the hospital’s chapel. The ceremony even had a Harry Potter theme.
The wedding party adjusted too, and traded their tuxes and dresses for scrubs.
“We’ve been waiting 7 and a half years for this,” said Jacobs.
She will soon be released from the hospital but has three months of recovery ahead of her.
“I’m ecstatic that I’m able to have this ceremony with her,” said Matt, the groom.
The couple is planning a honeymoon to Disney World in the future.
