INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting on the west side of Indianapolis on Wednesday.
IMPD Southwest District officers responded to the 6400 block of Rockville Road, near High School Road, at 11:20 a.m. on reports of two people shot.
Upon arrival, officers located two adult males in the driveway of a home suffering from gunshot injuries. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene.
IMPD says firearms were also located in the driveway next to the men.
One person was detained at the scene, but later released pending further investigation.
Police believe the individuals involved knew each other and there was an exchange in gunfire.
IMPD says this was a targeted incident and there is no threat to the community.
The Marion County Coroner's Office will release the deceased's name once his family is notified.
