MARION — An investigation from Indiana State Police is underway after a person was killed in a shooting involving officers from the Marion Police Department.
The shooting occurred around 5:30 a.m. after police were called to a residence in the 2100 block of W. 8th Street for an unwanted person inside a residence.
Police encountered 39-year-old Michael Guy — who had an active warrant and protective order against him.
After failing to cooperate with officers, according to ISP, Guy took a holster off one of the officers.
An officer attempted to use a TASER but was unsuccessful, according to ISP. The second officer fired their department-issued weapon and struck Guy.
Guy died at the scene.

No officers were injured.
The officer who struck Guy has been placed on administrative leave.
