1 dead following shooting on northeast side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A man is dead after being shot on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a person shot in the 10000 block of Montery Road just before 6 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to an area hospital in critical condition. Shortly after arrival he was pronounced dead.

IMPD homicide detectives have responded to the scene and are investigating.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will release the victim's name once the family is notified.
