INDIANAPOLIS — A 16-year-old was killed in a shooting on the northwest side of Indianapolis Tuesday.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to the 4400 block of Braemar Dr. on a report of a person shot around 3:15 p.m.

When officers arrived they located 16-year-old Nathaniel Labissiere with gunshot injuries.

Labissiere was pronounced deceased.

"It’s very sad because someone was getting their child ready for school tomorrow and now they’re planning a funeral," said neighbor Joseph Kirby.

Initially police took one person of interest in for questioning but no arrests were made.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024 for Reckless Homicide in connection to the death of Labissiere.

Kirby along with some of those neighbors told WRTV they were devastated by what happened in their normally quiet neighborhood.

“I’ve been living in this neighborhood for going on 15 to 20 years and we’ve never hard anything like this to happen," Kirby said.

“I’ll be walking around talking with most of the neighbors to see how they're doing," added Harold Walton.

He lives just six houses down from where the shooting happened.

“As a neighborhood we’ll get through it," he said.
