INDIANAPOLIS — Two people are dead after shootings early Tuesday on the west and northeast sides of Indianapolis, police said.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the first shooting happened before 1 a.m. in the 2600 block of Westbrook Avenue, near Interstate 70 and Sam Jones Expressway.
Officers found a man in the rear of the house suffering from gunshot wounds, IMPD Major Kerry Buckner said. Medics pronounced Landon Perry, 27, dead at the scene.
Buckner added police shot and killed a pit bull that charged after an investigating officer. A second dog at the house was tranquilized.

About four hours later, police responded to another shooting inside a laundromat near the intersection of East 38th Street and North Sherman Drive. Michelle L. Spaulding, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released information about what led to either shooting.
Three people have been fatally shot in Indianapolis since 9 p.m. Monday. A woman was fatally shot while riding in a car near the intersection of East 30th Street and North Post Road.
