INDIANAPOLIS — A man was shot and killed early Friday at a housing complex on the northeast side where multiple deadly shootings occurred in 2020.
Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a shooting around 3:30 a.m. in the 4000 block of Stratford Court, near East 42nd Street and North Post Road.
Police found a man, identified as 46-year-old James Goliday Jr., suffering from a gunshot wound. IMPD initially reported Goliday Jr. was in critical condition, but he later died.
Police have not released information about the circumstances of the shooting.
The housing complex, Towne and Terrace, was the site of six deadly shootings between June-November 2020.
On June 19, Zyair Herron, 27, died in a shooting in the 4000 block of Hampshire Drive. A week later on June 26, Ronald Morris, 46, died and another person was injured in a shooting in the 4100 block of North Brentwood Drive. Shawn E. Hicks Jr., 23, was fatally shot in the 4100 block of North Brentwood Drive on July 30.
On Aug. 29, Nataysia Williams, 25, was shot and killed in the 4100 block of North Brentwood Drive. A private security guard, Melvin Hall, was charged with murder.
Vorn Phillips, 24, died after he was shot Sept. 14 in the 4000 block of Hampshire Court. Nearly two months later on Nov. 10, Chad Wheat, 36, was shot and killed in the 4000 block of Stratford Court.
