1 shot, killed injured on west side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead following a shooting on the west side of Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 5700 block of West Ray Street on reports of a person shot just before 5 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot injury. The victim was reported to be in critical condition.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

IMPD says they have identified the individuals involved in this incident and are investigating the events leading up to the shooting.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will release the name of the victim once his family is notified.
