16-year-old shot, killed on Indianapolis' east side

INDIANAPOLIS — A 16-year-old boy died Sunday night after an east side shooting.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers found the victim near E 30th Street and N Lesley Avenue. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died shortly after, according to IMPD.

The Marion County Coroner identified him as Michael Duerson III.

His death is being investigated as a homicide. IMPD hasn't released information about what led up to the shooting or information about a possible suspect.

On July 19, IMPD announced the arrest of two men — Jayden Jennings and Keith Miller — in connection with the shooting.

Jennings is charged with one count each of murder and robbery while Miller is charged with one count of murder.
