INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD confirmed two juveniles were shot on the southeast side of Indianapolis Saturday evening.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 2900 Block of East Tabor Street on reports of a person shot at 6:26 p.m.
IMPD says the 911 call disconnected before the caller could give an address. However, map technology was used to trace the scene.
Upon arrival, officers located two male juvenile victims suffering from gunshot injuries. Their ages were confirmed to be 12-years-old and 13-years-old. Both victims were taken to Riley Hospital for Children in stable condition.
IMPD says the shooting happened near the clubhouse of an apartment complex where a graduation party was taking place. However, it is unknown if the juveniles were there for the party.
According to IMPD, the two juveniles went to a picnic table to smoke when several individuals arrived and opened fire on them. IMPD says multiple witnesses said the suspects were involved in a gang, but this has yet to be confirmed by police.
IMPD says after the initial shots were fired, people from the graduation party ran to the area and tried to help the victims. The suspects started to shoot at them as well. None of them were struck.
The number of suspects is unknown at this time, but they fled the area by foot.
