INDIANAPOLIS — A record-setting year of violent death in Indianapolis is ending with at least three homicides in a 24-hour period investigated by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

In the latest incident, a person, identified as 26-year-old D'Andre Driver, was shot to death and three others were wounded around 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve in Castleton, according to city police.

It happened in the parking lot of the Epic Ultra Lounge on Center Run Drive, just north of East 82nd Street, said IMPD Captain Lawrence Wheeler at the scene.

As the shooting broke out, a large number of people fled the area. Three people who were wounded ended up at nearby Community North Hospital. Two of the victims, said to be critically wounded, were quickly transferred to Eskenazi Hospital. The third person did not appear to suffer life-threatening wounds.

Wheeler said investigators were not getting much cooperation from potential witnesses to the shooting, but police are hoping security camera video of the incident may be available.

The Castleton shooting death would appear to bring the number of homicides this year in the IMPD district to at least 245.
