Chicago man arrested in Kokomo man's December murder

UPDATE: Kokomo police on Tuesday, Feb. 23 said that as a result of the ongoing investigation, six additional people have been arrested in connection with shooting death of Sharman M. Pearson II, 42. Those arrested include a 22-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, two 19-year-old men and two 18-year-old men.

KOKOMO — A man from Chicago has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 42-year-old Kokomo man in Dec. 2020.

Officers with the Kokomo Police Department responded to the shooting on Dec. 23 just after midnight in the 800 block of East Broadway Street. They found a man inside the house suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Medics transported the man, identified as Sharman M. Pearson II, to St. Vincent Hospital where he was pronounced dead about a half-hour later.

During the investigation, detectives identified an 18-year-old man from Chicago as a suspect in the murder. An arrest warrant was issued and the man was taken into custody on Feb. 9, 2021, at his home in Chicago.

Investigators say additional arrests are expected in the case, which remains under investigation.
