46-year-old man charged with murder in shooting death of 19-year-old Tipton man

TIPTON — A 46-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 19-year-old, according to the Tipton County Sheriff's Office.

The 46-year-old was taken into custody by police hours after Noe Alexander Contreras of Tipton was shot to death on the suspect's property in Sharpsville early Wednesday morning.

Police arrived on the scene at 4232 N. S.R. 19 at 2:11 a.m. on Wednesday on reports of a person shot. Once officers arrived, they located Contreras outside of the residence on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. Contreras was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

According to a release from the Tipton County Sheriff's Office, there were multiple people at the residence at the time of the shooting. All were interviewed by police, including the 46-year-old suspect, who was transported to the sheriff's office for further questioning after the initial interview.

After the consented interview with police, the suspect was arrested for the murder of Contreras. He is currently being held at the Tipton County Jail, awaiting final charges determined by the Tipton County Prosecutor's Office.
