Alexandria man arrested for battery of 3-month-old child

ALEXANDRIA — A 21-year-old Alexandria man has been arrested and is facing multiple felony charges stemming from battery on a 3-month-old child.

According to a report from Alexandria police, officers were called to the Harvest Supermarket in Alexandria on Sept. 26 on report of a 3-month-old baby who allegedly was injured in a fall. After investigation, the man was arrested and held in the Madison County Jail pending the filing of formal charges.

Police said the Madison County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday charged the man with aggravated battery, neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury and domestic battery with serious bodily injury to a person under 14, all level 3 felonies.

The investigation also revealed an additional incident that occurred in or around July 2020. Two additional charges of battery resulting in bodily injury to a person under 14 and neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injured were also filed.

WRTV is not identifying the man because online court records do not yet show the formal charges have been filed.
