INDIANAPOLIS – An Anderson police officer has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he showed up for work with alcohol on his breath last month, according to recent documents.
According to police documents, the officer showed up very late for his shift on July 25. When his supervisor asked him why he was late, the supervisor smelled alcohol on his breath.
The officer took a breathalyzer test, which registered .08 – at the legal limit. He had driven to work, so he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
The officer is on paid administrative leave, pending administrative action, said Major Joel Sandefur.
