MARTINSVILLE — A man grabbed a girl's arm and tried to abduct her Saturday evening near a park in Martinsville, according to police.

Just before 6:30 p.m., a girl was riding her bike and got separated from her friends by Crone Lumber, which is near the Artesian Little League Ball Fields, when a man came out of a nearby wooded area and grabbed her arm, according to a press release from the Martinsville Police Department.

The girl was able to get away, reunite with her friends, and went home to tell her mother about what happened, according to the release. The man is described as being about 50-years-old, medium build, and was wearing a green T-shirt and a blue cap.

Martinsville Police Department officers and Indiana State Police troopers searched the area for the suspect but weren't able to locate him.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call MPD Deputy Chief John Richards at 765-349-4900.
