INDIANAPOLIS — A toddler was stabbed at a Days Inn on the northeast side of Indianapolis Tuesday night.

According to IMPD, the incident occurred at the Days Inn located at 8300 Craig St around 11 p.m.

When officers arrived to the scene they found a young child with stab wounds.

The child was transported to Riley Children's Hospital in critical condition and was later said to be in serious, but stable condition.

"A child or infant, you've heard me say this before, all of our officers when you hear that come across the radio, your heart drops," said IMPD Public Information Officer William Young.

After searching for the possible suspect, they were found hiding in a bush near the hotel.

According to preliminary court documents, the child was stabbed by a woman who was attempting to stab a dog who stole her Burger King chicken sandwich.
