COLUMBUS — A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and killed in a hit-and-run crash late Sunday in Columbus.
According to a report from Columbus police, officers were called to the area of 11th and Chestnut streets around 11:15 p.m. Sunday after receiving several 911 calls about the crash.
Police said the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's identity is being withheld pending the notification of family.
Officers located a GMC Jimmy that was heavily damage and abandoned approximately one block away in the middle of the 1200 block of Union Street.
Police said 11th Street between Chesnut and California streets was closed for approximately 3.5 hours.
The crash remains under investigation by the Columbus Police Department Crash Reconstructionists and the Columbus Police Department Investigation Division.
