BROWNSBURG — A 17-year-old boy has died after he was shot in a subdivision east of Brownsburg on Tuesday.

According to a report from the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 10200 block of Haag Road.

Deputies said two people were in a parked Jeep along the north side of Haag Road when another vehicle, possibly a black Chevrolet Impala, stopped alongside the vehicle. At least two people inside the black vehicle opened fire on the individuals inside the red Jeep.

Only one occupant, a 17-year-old boy, was struck by the bullets and was taken to an Indianapolis hospital in serious condition. He later died at the hospital.

The Marion County Coroner has identified the teen victim as Freddie Hegwood II.

The other person in the Jeep was not injured, deputies said.

One house near the scene was also struck by bullets, but no one was injured at the residence, deputies said.
