Man shot, killed by step-father on Indianapolis' northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was shot and killed by his stepfather Friday night on Indianapolis' northeast side.

The shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 3100 block of North Bancroft Street.

Officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound just outside of a home.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died. The victim was identified as David Starks Jr., 27. 

Police arrested Leonard Booker, 48, in connection with the shooting death. Police say Starks was Booker's stepson and the two were in an altercation before the shooting. 

Booker is charged with murder. 

The incidents surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
