INDIANAPOLIS — One person has died after being shot on the east side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of South Bancroft Street on reports of a disturbance at 7:20 p.m. There was also an additional report of a person with a firearm.

Upon arrival, officers located 36-year-old Dyeshia Turner in the yard suffering from a gunshot injury. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

IMPD says the disturbance involved people who were known to one another. On February 6, IMPD announced the arrest of a 29-year-old woman for the crime.

WRTV will not name her until formal charges are fired.
