INDIANAPOLIS — Brand new equipment for youth baseball players was stolen over the weekend, according to the Ben Davis Little League.
Leaders of the program say the thefts happened sometime Friday night from the Wayne Sports Park, near West 21st Street and North Girls School Road.
They say someone broke into their storage facility and took bats and new catchers equipment the league purchased this year.
A teacher started a GoFundMe to help raise money to replace some of the equipment. Thanks to several donations within hours of the page launching, they were able to surpass their goal.
ESPN commentator Kirk Herbstreit also donated $3,730 to help the leagues.
