INDIANAPOLIS — A man was shot and killed Sunday morning in an apartment complex in Beech Grove, according to police.
Beech Grove Police Department and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officers and emergency personnel were investigating the incident around 10:20 a.m. on Diplomat Court, near Emerson and Churchman avenues, IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley said in an email.
When officers arrived, they found Devon Ford, 28, who had been shot and killed while he was in bed, BGPD Deputy Chief Robert Mercuri said.
Mercuri said Ford's 16-year-old nephew has been arrested and preliminarily charged with murder. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make an official charging decision.
Mercuri said Ford lived at the Beech Meadow Apartment complex for approximately three years.
