Fire destroys northeast Indianapolis house one day after fatal shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — The house where a man was fatally shot on Saturday caught on fire early Sunday morning.

Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters were called around 3:30 a.m. Sunday to the 4000 block of Richlelieu Road on the report of a house fire, IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith said in a press release. The fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damages.

Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency responders were called to same house after receiving reports of a person who had been shot, according to IMPD. The man later died.

It is believed the man was shot during a domestic incident, according to IMPD.

IMPD and IFD investigators are still working to determine if the two incidents are connected.
