CLOVERDALE — A former Cloverdale High School student is in custody after he was seen with a gun in the school's parking lot.
Cloverdale superintendent Greg Linton said the former student arrived at the school around 3 p.m. and was seen retrieving an automatic weapon from another vehicle and taking it to his car.
Linton said Cloverdale High School's assistant principal and other students witnessed the person with a gun and alerted the school's student resource officer, who detained the former student before he was taken into police custody.
A statement on the high school's website said the Cloverdale Police Department is investigating the incident.
