IMPD dispatched to check welfare of person, finds deceased body

INDIANAPOLIS — Following a request from Community Corrections to check on the welfare of a person, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department found a person dead in an east side home on Monday morning.

After 9:30 a.m., IMPD officers were dispatched to the location of 3237 North Ruckle Street on a welfare check. Once inside the residence, officers found a deceased person.

Homicide detectives responded and began canvassing the area for witnesses. According to IMPD, this is an active and ongoing investigation.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will release the name of the victim once the next-of-kin has been notified.
