IMPD: Homicide investigation underway after person struck and killed after altercation

INDIANAPOLIS — A homicide investigation is underway after a person was struck and killed after an altercation Saturday morning on the northeast side of Indianapolis, police say.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers found an adult suffering from trauma around 7:20 a.m. in the 5200 block of East 36th Street, near Emerson Avenue, IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley said in a press release. They later died.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Jean Reed.

Officers were called to the area after someone reported a person down, Sibley said.

On Tuesday, police announced a 27-year-old woman was arrested on preliminary charges of reckless homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
